My 5 Step Skincare Routine

IMG_7090

Hi Friends,

So for the last 4-6 weeks I have been trialling some new skin care products from the Aspect Skin Care product range thanks to the Claire Francoise Skin & Body clinic in Melbourne. I had heard of Aspect before this but I never knew which products to start with or what would be a great basic routine to try without having to purchase EVERYTHING.

My two main skin concerns have been enlarged / congested pores and dull, tired looking skin and I’m happy to report that I’ve seen a dramatic improvement in both these areas since using the Aspect products. Of course I still get the occasional breakouts (usually hormonal) and the bags under my eyes aren’t going anywhere (thanks toddlers) but these are things I can live with, but that also might improve as I continue to use these products.

So for anyone looking to try a new skincare line or for those interested in the exact products I am using, here they are below. For any readers that live in Melbourne, you can also book an appointment with Claire Francoise and get a FREE skin consultation to determine the exact products that would work for you.

My Products (and the order that I use them):

Cleanser

Extreme B 17

Extreme C 20

Exfol L 15 (use 2-3 times per week in the PM)

Phytostat 9

I hope this helps and that we are all blessed with great skin from here on out ;). xx

Overthinking It

Coat: Feather and Noise (same style different colour here), Knit: Feather and Noise (same style different colour here, similar style here) Jeans: Rollas (similar here), Shoes: Frankie4

Yay! A blog post! Hi friends, I know it’s been a minute (or two) since my last post and while I can give you all the excuses of work, toddlers, life etc the truth is, I think I’ve just been overthinking it.

Sure I don’t currently have the same time to devote to blogging the way I used to, but I miss it and so why not just adapt and focus on what I CAN do? The easiest and quickest thing to blog is of course an outfit post so this is what you’ve got today!

Distressed denim, an oversized knit and sneakers are always my go to ‘everyday’ items but this particular knit and these new sneakers are now the main players in rotation. The knit is called a ‘Joanna’ knit from Feather and Noise and I have it in two colours (have to stop myself from buying more) and these sneakers are the ‘Nat’ from Frankie4, hands down the comfiest sneakers going and I love the cream leather + white lace combo. I will have to do a separate post about the jacket I am wearing but let me just say, ‘coatigans’ are where it is at this winter!!

Thanks to those of you still reading, I have a few fun posts scheduled to come soon but outside of that I hope I can get better at popping back in regularly, especially with easy outfit posts!

Enjoy the rest of you week. xx

Post treatment 🙂

Is it just me or has ‘skincare’ suddenly become a huge topic of discussion? Gone are the days of a basic, cleanse, tone and moisturise routine with a sporadic facial thrown in, if you’re lucky. Now its double cleansing, multiple oils, sunscreen, laser, microdermabrasion, fillers, night creams and day creams. It seems that women these days are far more educated about what treatments are available and that the health and vitality of our skin is the priority as opposed to buying a whole heap of make up to cover up ‘imperfections’.

I know that this is certainly the case for me. As I start to approach my 30’s I’m beginning  to notice that the products that got me through my 20s are no longer cutting it and certain lifestyle factors (too much coffee, lack of sleep, dehydration etc) come into play a lot more. So recently when Claire from Claire Francoise Skin and Beauty contacted me asking if I would like to come in and try an LED Light Therapy treatment using Omnilux I didn’t hesitate to say yes!

Here is a little bit about the treatment, taken from the Claire Francoise website:

Omnilux revive stimulates cellular activity. As cellular activity increases cells become more permeable and responsive to exogenous factors. Blood flow increases, it gives anti-inflammatory properties as well as to help treat hormonal acne, acne scarring and leads to greater tissue oxygenation and detoxification. Skin appears clearer with less fine lines, plumped up and hydrated.

Omnilux Plus (near infra-red light) has longer wavelengths than the Omnilux revive. It has been designed to help heal the skin. It is perfect for skin scarring including acne, damaged skin and after cosmetic surgery. After a treatment using the omnilux plus your skin will feel fuller and appear tighter in appearance.

Advantages of Omnilux LED Light Therapy

  • Stimulates the bodies own cellular mechanisms by photomodulation
  • Not a laser or an IPL so no heat, no side effects or downtime.
  • Non-invasive, safe and completely pain-free.
  • No damage to sub-dermal tissue
  • Relaxing and calming experience
  • Allows treatment of large areas such as the face and chest

So, my verdict? 10/10. The three big pro’s for me were:

  1. Zero downtime and walking out of the clinic with absolutely glowing skin (as opposed to redness after microdermabrasion for example),
  2. The treatment itself was SUUUUPER relaxing. As you can see in the picture above, the light itself is VERY bright but it is not at all hot and after a few minutes your eyes adjust to the brightness (behind your goggles of course) and a relaxing sensation washes over you. I dare you not to doze off ;),
  3. It can be a one off treatment as a little pep me up or you can book in for a series of treatments to target more specific issues like acne scarring.

The only con for me was that I did have quite a significant breakout two days after the treatment. This however is common with most facial treatments (it’s called a ‘purge’) and it could have more to do with the light peel we did before the Omnilux and the fact that my skin is quite congested anyway. After the breakouts cleared however, my skin felt really radiant and youthful.

Final thoughts? I would really recommend this treatment to everyone, especially given how non-evasive it is. I’d love to have a series of treatments as I think the results would just get better and better with consistency, however I also think it’s a great ‘special event’ option for those times that you need your skin to glow! In addition to the treatment, the clinic itself is beautiful and welcoming, Claire is an absolute expert in her field and if you are a Melbourne girl I would strongly advise you to get yourself into Claire Francoise for all your skincare needs! Thanks again Claire, can’t wait to come in again soon. x

How To Take Your Midi Skirt Into Winter

Jumper: Cotton On (last season, similar here), Skirt: Temt (In store only, similar here), Boots: Rubi Shoes, Bag: X Nihilo

How many of you dread the beginning of winter because it means you have to pack away all your favourite skirts and dresses? There is no doubt that the pleated midi skirt has been a huge staple for many of us over summer and spring and today I thought I’d show you how to eek a little bit more wear out of it, even as the weather starts to cool down.

As you can see above I have paired my skirt with a slightly baggy jumper and some ankle booties for some added warmth. A common issue with this combination however is that most of us tend to lose a bit of ‘shape’ under all the layers, and you can see that has happened to me. My solution to this problem was to wear different shades of the same colour for my whole outfit. By keeping the look tonal it helps to create a lean, streamlined silhouette.

If you wanted to mix and match your pieces a little bit more you could add a belt to define your waist or wear a cropped jumper that finishes at the waistband of your skirt. The metallics trend is definitely carrying through to the cooler months so I’ve added a touch of fun and sparkle with these silver sock booties from Rubi Shoes.

What do you think about this look? Who else will be modifying their favourite summer pieces to work for them in the cooler months? xx

My Pick: Oversized Denim Jackets

IMG_4560IMG_4672IMG_4670IMG_4671

I love this time of year. We’ve entered into a new season, the weather is slowly starting to change and all of the new and forecasted trends that we saw on runways and in magazines months ago, are starting to show up in real life. One of my favourite trends for this Autumn / Winter is the oversized denim jacket. I mean oversized anything usually equates to comfortable (ahem, except for earrings!) and denim is universally wearable so its obvious that this trend is a winner straight off the bat.

I purchased the jacket above probably this time last year in New York, but I found it in the mens section of a department store. The good news is that now you don’t have to stray from your side of the store as there are PLENTY of oversized options available for us girls at the moment. Below are some of my picks for a great oversized denim jacket and of course they all come in under $150. Happy shopping :). xo

Autumn Shmutumn. We are having The craziest weather in Melbourne at the moment. First it was an extended summer with about three weeks of heat and now the rain and humidity has set it. This kind of cool-then-sticky-then-hot-then-wet weather makes getting dressed in the morning incredibly challenging, but luckily for me, I usually just ignore the weather and wear whatever ‘speaks to me’ ;).

This morning my pink tulle skirt practically jumped out of the closet so I paired it with this mid weight denim button down and my trusty Chloe-esk studded ankle boots from last season. Now as you can probably imagine, rain and tutu’s don’t really mix. We were super lucky to get these pictures before the rain poured down again this afternoon. Its safe to say that as soon as I got in from picking the kids up from daycare, this outfit came off and the trackies went straight on, haha. Who else does that??

I am so happy to be back to regular programming this week as hubby is finally home and VAMFF is finished. I will blog about my experience working at the Fashion Festival later this week but the short version is, it was amazing and I am exhausted :).

Hope you all have a great week. Talk soon.

Insta Round Up

Well hello!!! Long time, no blog :(. Things are a little busy over here but tonight I’ve finally managed to carve out some time to quickly pop in to say hi! My camera roll is full of outfits I wanted to share with individual posts but I am so far behind now I figured I’d do a quick round up and hopefully start again fresh next week. If you follow me on instagram you will have seen these looks over the last few weeks so here are all the details.

You might also notice a snazzy new handbag in a few of these pictures. I have started working with a Melbourne based luxury leather handbag company called X Nihilo and they very kindly gifted me one of their designs. This is the Bank bag (direct link below). Obviously this is a higher price point so I have also linked a similar handbag if you just want to achieve the look. However if you are looking to purchase an investment piece, I can 100% vouch for the quality and design of X Nihilo. Also if you are a boutique and you’d like to talk about stocking this line, hit me up too ;).

Dress: Bohemian Traders $179, Slides: Bohemian Traders $119

How good is denim? Denim jeans, dresses, skirts, shirts; I love it all! Recently I was lucky enough to win (another) Instagram competition! This time it was with denim experts Bohemian Traders! The kind people over at BT sent me over an amazing capsule wardrobe with their latest Premium Denim range which includes these two pieces I am wearing above.

I was already a Bohemian Traders customer prior to winning this comp so I can vouch for the quality and the items I received and have worn so far most definitely stand up too. This dress is slightly above the $150 price point that I try to stick to for the blog but given it is a piece that I will wear multiple times and I believe you would too I’ve chosen to include it! These slides however are a bargain at $119!

I will definitely show you the rest of the pieces soon but until then, if you are after some premium denim staples I’d really encourage you to check out Bohemian Traders. xx

Dress: Daily Style Boutique $80, Boots: Tony Bianco (similar here $147), Bag: Zara (similar here approx $50)

Hi guys!

Sorry my blog posts have been a bit sporadic lately! I am starting a new job (of sorts) and so for the first time since becoming a mum, I am having to figure out how to do this working mum juggle in a more permanent way. Up until now it has been manageable to fit in styling clients or small blog projects here and there, but in this new role I am working with another company so I need to work more traditional hours, as well as attend meetings and networking events. I will definitely share more details with you when I can but in the meantime please just bear with me :).

So I had a few staff meetings and training sessions this morning and I was so excited to be able to wear this new “Thousand Star Dress” I received from Daily Style Boutique. I love the cold shoulder details as well as the high neck with a subtle ruffle. Obviously as I am working within the fashion industry I can get away with this as work attire, however if you are in a more corporate environment, this dress would probably be better for weekend wear.

As I’ve mentioned before, ‘Cold Shoulder’ styles are a great take on the ‘Off The Shoulder’ trend. They give you the same effect but are more wearable and flattering on a greater variety of body shapes. I have quite broad shoulders and often look much wider across my chest when I wear an OTS style, however with the cold shoulder silhouette the extension of the sleeve down my arm helps to balance out my shoulders, and give my overall shape more proportion. So if you love the OTS style but don’t feel like it suits you for whatever reason, try the cold shoulder instead!

I hope you are all having a great start to the week, any working mums that can give me some tips on ‘doing it all’, I’d love to hear from you!!

xx
